Connect Neighbors
Young and Old
Maywood Park is constantly changing. But it's never lost its sense of neighborliness and care for one another. Our government should reflect that reality.
Have you seen the Maywood Park "Toy Corner?" My husband and I created that! During the pandemic, we noticed kids didn't have any place to play. All parks were closed. All playground equipment shut down. So we created a small spot where little ones could find some whimsy. Then we created some for the adults. We are grateful our neighbors still enjoy playing there.
Not everyone can create a toy corner. But everyone can find opportunities to connect with neighbors. I've enjoyed meeting and learning Maywood history from long-time residents. I'm also blessed to count many newer residents among my friends.
Community isn't something City Council creates for us. It's something we create together. As your Councilor, I'll look for ways to strengthen those connections and nurture the culture of kindness that makes Maywood Park special.

Prioritize, Plan,
and Follow Through
Small government makes competence especially important. When there are so few people doing the work, every Council member must contribute.
Maywood Park has limited money, staff capacity and Council time. Every idea cannot become a priority simply because someone proposed it. Council needs to distinguish what's required, what's important, what's feasible and what can wait—then plan the work, make decisions and follow through.
This is where my experience managing projects will come in. As your Councilor I will listen to ideas, ask tough questions, and help ensure work is prioritized and accomplished so you can feel good about the progress our city is making.
Better Communication
from the Council
Residents shouldn't have to work hard to understand what their city is doing.
My professional role is to represent people affected by decisions made when they're not in the room. It requires me to communicate with those impacted about those decisions and what went into making them.
I'm committed to clear, timely communication about the Council's work. As your Councilor, I will keep our residents' needs, interests, and concerns at the heart of all decisions. I will work to ensure residents are aware of important issues, understand the decisions being made and why, expect what's coming next, and know when your input is needed.
